InshAllah the 6th Annual North American Qira'atul Quran & Hifz Competition registration deadline is January 11, 2011 at 11:59 pm. Pre-test is scheduled for January 29 & 30, 2010. The Girls' Competition has been scheduled for March 5 and 6, 2011 and the Boys' Competition has been scheduled for March 11, 12, and 13, 2011.
The North American Qira’at-ul-Qur’an Competition is an annual event held at the Islamic Foundation of Toronto. The Competition was established to encourage youth to compete against each other in the categories of Qira’at and Hifz-ul Qur’an. By the grace of Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala this blessed event has been attended by over 2000 spectators in its previous years.
The purpose of the Competition is to build and strengthen the relationship between Tahfeezul Qur’an and Tajweed. In our society, it is imperative to fortify the link between the youth and the Qur’an and increase the love for the Qur’an. The Holy Qur’an is the guidebook for all of mankind and adherence to its tenets will result is success in both this life and the Hereafter. Allah (SWT) says in Surah Ankaboot “And those who strive in our (cause) We will certainly guide them to our paths. For verily Allah is with those who do the right”.

Sheikh Mishary Rashed Alafasy
Sheikh Mishary Al-Afasy is the Imam of Masjid Al-Kabir (Grand Mosque) in Kuwait City. Every year in Ramadan, he leads the Taraweh prayers in this Mosque. Sheikh Mishary bin Rashed Al-Afasy has travelled to North America before where he visited two mosques in the United States of America: the Islamic Center of Irvine (ICOI) in California and the Islamic Center of Detroit (ICD) in Michigan.
Qari Saad Nomani
Qari Muhammad Saad Nomani is gifted with the ability to imitate over 70 different Qurrah and Imam, including the Imam of the two Holy Mosques of the Muslim world in Makkah and Madinah. Born in 1980 in Saudi Arabia to parents of Pakistani descent, Qari Saad is the 26th generation grandson of the illustrious Imam Abu Hanifa (RA). He has studied uder the tutelage of world renowned recitors.
Qari Saad has also received his Ijazat-ul Hadeeth an Nabawi (SAW)from esteemed scholars including Moulana Ashiq Elahi, Mufti Muhammad Rafee Usmani and Mufti Muhammad Taqi Usmani. He has travelled extensively to other parts of the world including South Africa, Kenya, England, various Gulf States and currently resides in Madina.
Shaikh Ramadhaan Hindawi
Egyptian-born Sheikh Ramadhaan Al-Hindawi graduated from Mahad-Al-Qira’at. He is a regular reciter on Egyptian television and has traveled all over the world including India, Pakistan, Iran, Turkey, and Indonesia.
Qari Mohammed Siddique
Recognized as one of the best Qari of India, Qari Mohammed Siddique was born in 1962. He studied Arabic language, Tafseer of the Holy Quran, Hadith and Islamic Jurisprudence at Falahe Darain Institute in India. Qari Siddique also studied the different Qira’at under Imam of Ilmo-Qira’at Qari Muhammed Anis. Upon completion, he was chosen by his teachers to teach at the Institute and completed his Hifz-ul Qur’an while teaching.
He is currently the head of the Tajweed Department at Falahe Darain Institute as well as various other institutions. He has written extensively on the subject of Tajweed and his books include: Rahbar-e-Tajweed, Tawdeeh-ul Waqf Sharh-e-Jami-ul Waqf, and Fathur-Rahman Sharh-e-Khulasat-ul Bayan.
